Coffee - Some Like It Hot

If you are like many Americans, you cannot start your day without a cup of coffee. As a matter of fact, if you get used to coffee each morning and then suddenly stop drinking it, you are likely to get a headache from the withdrawal.

Coffee is a good drink. Until recently, most people drank coffee hot. Thirty years ago, automatic coffee makers made it possible for everyone to brew a cup of coffee in the morning in a fraction of the time that it used to take when using a percolator. Today, there are coffee machines that only take two minutes to brew a good cup of coffee.

With the growth of some coffee chains, such as Starbucks, many Americans as well as other people throughout the world are beginning to enjoy the benefits of Iced coffee. Iced Coffee, like Iced Tea, can be refreshing and cooling.

Coffee first became the national drink in the United States as far back as colonial times when it was considered to be unpatriotic to drink tea as it was heavily taxed. As a result of the embargo on tea, Americans began drinking coffee and haven't stopped since, although tea is also a very popular drink in the United States.

During the summer, many people enjoy iced coffee, but some still like it hot. Coffee is the ultimate early morning pick me up for many people in America. Coffee, when consumed without cream or sugar, has no calories.

Not everyone likes their coffee strong. Some like coffee with less caffeine. Some popular ways to enjoy less caffeinated coffee are as follows:

Latte

If you do not want to be loaded down with caffeine, you can mix half a cup of coffee with half a cup of milk. The milk can be heated if you want to have a hot drink. You can also add some sugar to sweeten this drink.

You can put ice in a latte and drink it cold or drink it hot. It can be a refreshing drink or a light stimulant.

Half and Half Coffee

There are coffees that you can purchase that are half decaffeinated and half caffeinated. These can be a nice alternate if you do not want to consume too much caffeine during the course of the day.

Decaffeinated Coffee

You can purchase decaffeinated coffee which can be brewed just like regular coffee. If you want to have a refreshing drink, allow the coffee to cool in the refrigerator. Once cold, serve it with milk and sugar over ice. Because it is decaffeinated, it will not keep you up so you can have this tasty treat at night.

Coffee can be enjoyed many different ways. But most of us like it hot.
